Poland seeks apology for Obama Holocaust comments<\/span><\/div>\n

WARSAW, May 30 – Poland has demanded an apology
\nfrom Washington after President Barack Obama spoke of a “Polish
\ndeath camp” while announcing an award to a resistance fighter
\nfor alerting the world to the Nazi Holocaust, largely
\nperpetrated on Polish soil.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The matter is a delicate one in Poland, which suffered a
\nbrutal Nazi occupation during World War Two and has long
\ncampaigned against suggestions it bore any responsibility for
\nthe slaughter of some 6 million European Jews.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“The White House will apologise for the outrageous mistake,”
\nForeign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski wrote on his Twitter account
\non Tuesday. “It’s a pity that ignorance and incompetence
\novershadowed such a momentous ceremony.”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
On Wednesday, Sikorski said he did not suspect Obama of ill
\nwill and blamed the “grave mistake” on the White House’s speech
\nwriters and press service.<\/div>\n
