Gary Peters Statement on the 5<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary of Kosova\u2019s Independence<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThis week, I join Albanians and Kosovars in Michigan and around the globe to celebrate the 5<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Kosova. <!--more-->Throughout a challenged history, the Kosovar people have persevered and today their democratically elected government endures.\u00a0 Kosova\u2019s independence is now recognized by 98 members of the United Nations and I am confident that number will continue to grow.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I was fortunate to visit Albania and Kosova, in which I saw many homes with not just an Albanian flag \u2013 but an American flag flying right by its side.\u00a0 I am proud to be a friend of the Kosovar people and as an active leader of the Albanian Congressional Caucus in Washington, D.C.
